This weeks profile of courageous cocktails will be highlighting our delightful Molly’s Manhattan. Molly’s Manhattan is named for the girlfriend of the bar manager. You don’t have to date a bartender to get a drink named after you but it definitely helps.
Traditionally, the Manhattan is made with Whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. Molly’s Manhattan departs from this program as such:
- 2 1/2 Oz. Michael Collins Blended Irish Whiskey
- 1/2 Oz. Dry Vermouth
- 1/2 Oz Sweet Vermouth
- Dash Angostura Bitters
- Ole’ Smoky Tennessee Moonshine Cherries
Shake the liquid ingredients briskly then serve in a chilled martini glass or on the rocks in a high ball. Garnish with Ole’ Smoky Tennessee Moonshine Cherries.
A Manhattan made with Irish whiskey is often called a Paddy. Also, when one uses sweet and dry vermouth the Manhattan is said to be perfect. No matter which way you slice it, Molly’s Manhattan is a classy cocktail named for a classy lady and a classy town. Stay classy Lafayette. Cheers!
